The winters in Paradisa are frigid, and Rapunzel misses the warmth of her own bed and blankets. Even though she's not sure if it was any warmer than where she sleeps in the castle, the lack of familiarity makes it feel that much colder. She falls asleep each night shivering, and continues to long after she wakes up. People start to notice.

Her friends start to notice and care.

Aradia is the first to act. She lends her a jacket. Trudy wishes up a nightcap, and Vriska, a bit embarrassed, gives her a pair of slippers. Ino picks out colors of yarn and points out what's going on to the Once-ler, so he can knit her mittens. Lemony has a pair of exquisitely wooly socks for her, and Spike gives her a teddy bear he found in the library, so she "can warm up from the inside out". Then Garry presents her with a quilt he made.

Rapunzel feels a lot warmer from then on out, but she isn't sure it has anything to do with body heat. Really, she thinks it may well all come from the heart.
